We left the concert hall and headed over to the HOB restaurant, where it was filling up fast. The wait for dinner was from 60 to 70 minutes. We decided to head out to the back deck and grab a small appetizer, which were just as good as a meal to me. Once we finished eating we headed out to grab a place in line to get into the concert. The girl waiting to seat tables stopped us and asked, "Did you keep your dinner receipt?" which we did. She told us this great secret, which allowed us to be some of the first in to the concert! We went out by the regular line and there was Vance McNabb. He asked us how everything went with the interview and I said it was awesome. We then exchanged thank you's and you're welcomes yet again, and headed for a security person! Again, Vance was a really nice guy. We got to security and were guided to the first access line. Wow was it a hot, muggy day in North Myrtle Beach! We finally got inside the nice air-conditioned building and headed for the good seats upstairs! We would be sitting at the railing, which were perfect seats for the show!! The place started filling up like crazy, so I did what I do best (thanks to my aunt) and started spying on the people down below us. Hey now, at least I didn’t have binoculars. Anyway, I had fun spying, and that's when I saw him… Napolean Dynomite. He was just standing there, same hair, same face... had his arms folded across his chest. Later, the girls next to me were making comments and I realized they also noticed how much this guy looked like Napolean Dynomite. Ha ha! Just before 8pm, the show started with Missy Higgins. Missy was great, but again, her being from Australia, when she would talk into the mic, I couldn’t understand her too well. But, when she sings, you can’t hear an accent and she did a beautiful job! I was beginning to think Missy was not going to sing my favorite song of hers, Scar. But, the very last song she did, that was the song! Yea! I was excited. She ended her set after that and the stage crew took a few moments to set up for Anna Nalick. Once Anna came on stage you knew it! This girl was so full of life and energy, her singing voice is so beautiful, it actually gave me chills listening to her sing! She did sing one of my favorite songs, 'Citadel' first so, I was excited about that. This girl was amazing! If you ever have a chance to catch her in concert, make sure you go see her! She's going somewhere in the music world. Everyone noticed she had no shoes on. So, when she stopped to talk to the crowd she told us about it. "Anyone here have their night completely ruined because you couldn’t decide what to wear?" she asked. "Well I had that problem tonight, I looked all through my clothes… found this skirt…looked at myself in the mirror with it on. Okay, I thought, I'm rockin' the skirt!" Then she continued, "So I got to the shoes, and I could NOT find anything I wanted to sport, so you know what, I didn't feel like wearing any! And you know what, that's alright because for the next 45 minutes you're all mine and if you don't feel like wearing shoes either, well you damn well better take them off!" Which lead to an invasion of this real whacked out smell. No, that was a lie, but it did lead to a great cheer from the crowd! Some guy in the crowd shouted out "You rock my socks Anna!" Well, she was like, "I rock your socks? That’s awesome I guess. Hey guys, I rock his socks!" Later she stopped and looked at someone in the crowd, "Hey there cowboy!" she said. "Can I wear that?" So she got this guys cowboy hat and sported it around on the stage as she danced and did a few more songs. She sent it back with a kiss on the hat. (I wonder how much that would sell for online?) Anyway, she finished up with an awesome performance. There was another break before Howie Day came on stage. At 10:15 here he comes. The crowed went WILD when the curtain opened to him playing 'Perfect Time Of Day'. Now, I've heard cheering. I've been to a Hootie and the Blowfish concert but, NOTHING I have EVER heard compared to the way this crowd reacted to Howie coming on stage. Oh my gosh! Howie was amazing. No. Howie was WOWIE! (Come on girls, you really want a date with me now…ha ha…wowie.) He put you under a spell it seems, we were in such a state of awe with his music, so beautifully crafted using his looping and stomp boxes throughout his songs. One of the side guitarists, Jonathan Gray had a few technical problems, but they got that sorted out throughout the show. Howie joked with the crowd a bit and continued with his music, which was like supernatural. It's very hard to explain to you how GOOD this was! I just suggest, next time Howie plays near you… BE THERE! Speaking of Be There, this was one of his new songs he played for us. Now I have heard Be There a few times thanks to Howiefan.com. I heard it played solo and fell in love with it, then I heard it with the band and I wasn’t so sure if I liked it. Tonight gave me a huge love for this song with a band, it was beautiful! Howie went on to the next few songs, which lead him to talking with the crowd. "And now I'm going to sing the most depressing song on the album, Numbness For Sound." The crowd exploded with cheers. Howie stopped and came back with a weird look on his face. He said, "And now, the most DEPRESSING song on the album." Again the crowd went wild and the band went into the song. |
