Howie Day Interview - by All Access Tim

August 2nd 2005 taken from the 95SX All Access

Howie Day, 24, from Bangor, Maine was in concert at the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We have your “All Access” pass to our official interview and review of the show!

Once we arrived at the House of Blues we picked up our tickets and waited for the manager to come get us for the interview. After confirming that we were supposed to be there, we were escorted through a special entrance, and right up to Howie Day's dressing room! I was excited to be able to see my favorite artist, Howie Day, live! What could be better? We were able look down and watch while Howie and his band did their sound check, which sounded great!

We had the great pleasure to meet Vance McNabb, Howie's tour manager. Mr. McNabb was really good to me and in my opinion a great guy. While we waited, Missy Higgins, the first show opener of the night came in and we were able to meet her. Missy is from Australia and I’m from the south, so it was really hard to understand her most of the time.

Once sound check was finished, Howie and the band came up to the dressing room and we were finally introduced. When we started our interview, Howie asks, "Which station are you with?" so I replied, "95SX in Charleston, and this will be my first big assignment!" Howie then replied, "Oh cool, well I'll take it easy on you then." The guys in the band wanted to practice more on their guitars so we moved out to the opera box to finish the interview.

Here now, is that interview…

All Access: “What's the craziest fan experience you've had so far?”

Howie Day: "What's my craziest fan experience? I guess it was the other night. There was this girl saying she was Mena Suvari. She wanted to get in free. She kept on saying she was, so finally Vance went down to check her out, she looked nothing like Mena Suvari."

(At this point I'm thinking to myself “I wonder if I could get into the Hootie concert

if I say I'm Madonna… hmm, okay, on with the interview.)

All Access: Has it always been your intention to work with a band?

Howie Day: "It was just sort of the evolution of an artist, you know. Plus you get lonely... you need people on stage with you, so you can make faces at them."

All Access: Are you working on a new disc?

Howie Day: "Writing songs now. We have 5 or 6 new songs. We'll try two of them out today. See what kind of comradery we get from them."

All Access: What would be your favorite song off the album, Stop All the World Now?

Howie Day: "Oh wow, favorite song. Numbness For Sound."

All Access: Okay, finally who is in your CD player right now?

Howie Day: "My CD player, well we use I-Pods, so... Everything, haha.
We were listening to Neil Fin/Crowded House on the bus, Hey Now *slowly sings “Don't Dream It's Over"*. We are thinking about playing it tonight."

All Access: Thank you very much for your time Mr. Day!

Howie Day: "Oh, thank you, it wasn’t so bad, ha ha."

So we wrapped up the interview and took a few pictures. Howie Day was a very nice guy. I was impressed… really. Oh, and hey girls…he smells good too! Woohoo! *blank stare* No… really. Okay, moving on...
